A Soldier's Story: Major Thomas C.M. Zeugner

Major Thomas Carlyle Morris Zeugner was born on June 28, 1954, in Petersburg, Virginia. He graduated from the Fort Union Military Academy in 1972 and the Virginia Military Institute in 1976.  During his time at VMI, he was known for his sense of humor and his practical jokes. Major Thomas Zeugner was a varsity swim team member and held the school record for the 200 M breaststroke. He graduated with a Batchelor of Arts in English. Major Zeugner was a specialist in explosive ordinances, and his career would take him throughout Europe, Turkey, and Korea. He was also part of an ordinance team that swept for explosives during one of President Carter's trips to Israel.   Major Thomas Zeugner also received a Master's degree from Troy State and would briefly teach military science at San Bernadino College. Major Thomas Zeugner would deploy to Iraq during Desert Storm/ Desert Shield and the Gulf War and, on February 27, 1991, would die from wounds sustained while deactiva...

A Soldier's Story: Sergeant Ralph Gordon "Spot" Griswold

Sergeant Ralph Gordon "Spot" Griswold was born on May 17, 1893, in Warrens, Wisconsin. He relocated to Montana and worked as a log scaler before enlisting in the US Army on September 18, 1917, in response to World War I. He deployed to France with the 20th Engineers and was assigned to supply lumber to the front. He served until July 25, 1919. A Soldier's Story: First Lieutenant Sharon Ann Lane

First Lieutenant Sharon Ann Lane was born on July 7, 1943, in Zanesville, Ohio. She moved to North Industry while young and graduated from Canton South High School in 1961. First Lieutenant Sharon Lane attended the Aultman Hospital School of Nursing before enlisting in the US Army on April 18, 1968. She first worked stateside at the Fitzsimons Army Hospital in Denver, Colorado, before First Lieutenant Sharon Lane deployed for the Vietnam War to the 312 Evac Hospital at Chu Lai on April 29, 1969. An Airman's Story: Staff Sergeant Frank Wright Snook Jr.

Staff Sergeant Frank Wright Snook Jr. was born on May 24, 1924, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His family moved to Los Angeles, California, where he attended University High School, leaving shortly before his high school graduation to enlist in the US Air Force on January 30, 1943, in response to World War II. Staff Sergeant Frank Snook was assigned to the 431st Bomber Squadron and deployed to the Pacific.
