An Airman's Story: Staff Sergeant Rande Jay Hulec - Gulf War

 


Staff Sergeant Rande Jay Hulec was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 20, 1961.  He graduated from Cleveland Heights High School.  He was athletic, playing football in high school and was a triathlete during his military service.

He enlisted in the US Air Force on January 11, 1981, and was assigned to the 31st Weather Squadron at Ramstein, Germany.  

On August 29, 1990, Staff Sergeant Rande Jay Hulec died during his service while deploying to Saudi Arabia in response to Operation Desert Storm/Desert Shield when the C5A Cargo plane crashed in Ramstein shortly after take off.

He rests at Alger Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio.
